Extended Life Initiative

The demographics of urban futures points to a 9 billion global population in 2050, with the greater majority living in urban settlements. While an adaptation to climate change is likely and resource issues remains a challenge, a further challenge will be meeting the needs of an ageing society. At least half of the population will live to 100 (in fact a recent article in The Lancet projects this is already the case for those born after 2000), with 120 years being quite common.

The AGS will start an initiative and workshops to explore research needs and opportunities with an emphasis on sustainability and innovation. The mini seminars will include primer presentations to outline the issues and demographics, a discussion panel to lift research questions and needs and a workshop to develop clear recommendations to the AGS
